ABOUT US
Menozeta is a music collective founded in 1995 by a group of Venetian friends who were born in the 1970s, grew up in the 1980s, and began playing music together in the 1990s.
The original line-up was: Federico Rossi (drums and percussions), Alberto Fassetta (solo guitar), Tommaso Voltolina (rhythm guitar and backing vocals), Nicolò Mainardi (keyboards and programming), and Alberto Zambenedetti (bass guitar and vocals). They were first known as ODT, and their sound was influenced by psychedelic music, synth wave, and rock.
Their first album, titled “Nel Profondo” was recorded live in Vito Donatini’s studio “Il Pozzo” in 1998.
In 2003 the collective renamed itself Menozeta, following Zambenedetti’s departure for North America. The new line-up for the electro-rock project was Federico Rossi (drums and electronics), Alberto Fassetta (solo guitar), Tommaso Voltolina (bass guitar), and Nicolò Mainardi (keyboard and programming). In 2004 the new line-up completed their first eponymous album.
In 2008, the band began recording again, with Tommaso Voltolina and Nicolò Mainardi spearheading the initiative. They began posting their music on their website, www.menozeta.com
To celebrate the collective’s twentieth anniversary, the song “Uomo” (their first song in the original line-up) is re-arranged and re-recorded, and re-released.
Venice is very much alive, and after 30 years the collective is still playing.
